Popular Spanish singer and actor Raphael (born on May 5, 1945 in Jaén, Spain) is highly regarded for spearheading modern Spanish music. Even before representing and winning recognition for his country in the Eurovision Song Contests in 1966 and 1967, he had already achieved popularity with a number of singles. A Raphael tour followed the prestigious contest, which had made him an international star. Raphael toured worldwide; from Latin America and Europe to Japan. The Hispavox recording company awarded him with a Uranium disc for the best-selling LP ‘Ayer, Hoy, Siempre.’ The LP sold more than 50 million copies, which would have meant awarding the singer with 1,250 gold awards, hence Hispavox decided to make a special Uranium disc for Raphael.
