Maceo Parker is an American soul, jazz and funk musician, noted for his saxophone work with the legendary soul musician James Brown. Maceo Parker was a key member of James Brown’s band and is highly regarded for his amazing solos on a lot of the songs released by the group. Born in a family of musicians, his parents were church singers and his siblings too were accomplished drummers and trombone players. Maceo Parker, along with his brother named Melvin Parker, joined James Brown’s band together with Melvin taking over the responsibilities of the drums. This critically-acclaimed saxophonist has numerous well-received albums under his belt. Since 1999, Maceo Parker has graced Prince’s backing band with his talent in music. He has recently had a successful concert in Kinston, his hometown in North Carolina.
